CULTURE NEWS

  • A former News Center 7 anchor flipped the switch on Dec. 24 to launch the Legendary Lights display at Clifton Mill in Miami Valley. The festive event now illuminates the site for residents to enjoy throughout the season.  WHIO-TV
  • Carillon Historical Park has become a winter wonderland for 'A Carillon Christmas,' offering festive lights, sights and sounds that spread holiday cheer to families.   • Gas Buddy released a list of the 10 Dayton stations with the lowest gas prices for holiday travel on Dec. 22, providing price trends that help drivers plan their trips & compare costs.  Spectrum News 1

  • University of Dayton student and recent Stebbins High School graduate McCormick was elected to the Mad River Local School Board and will be sworn in Jan. 5. He will bring fresh ideas on using AI to help students prepare for graduation and support career tech programs.  Dayton Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County Environmental Services urges residents to recycle old electronics by taking them to the transfer station in Moraine when it reopens on Friday, since it is closed today. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Ohio Attorney General’s office announced that Hyundai and Kia owners whose vehicles were stolen or targeted on or after Apr. 29 may receive a free anti-theft device installation or compensation (under a multi-state settlement); owners will get a notice and one year to schedule service.  Spectrum News 1

HEALTH NEWS

  • Area hospitals in Montgomery, Greene, Butler and Clark will impose temporary visitor restrictions starting Friday due to a rise in respiratory illnesses such as COVID-19, flu, and RSV.
