HUD is offering $193 million for projects to prevent youth homelessness nationwide, and Daybreak Dayton plans to apply to secure more apartments for its roughly 100 participants. Applications will be due on Aug. 10.
Montgomery County reported a nearly 13% drop in homelessness, but local leaders warn that HUD funding cuts for permanent housing services may slow progress. County Commissioner Carolyn Rice said changes in federal priorities could push more people into temporary housing programs & strain existing support.
