- ➤ Madden Hills leaders will build 40 new homes and rehabilitate 24 houses using $17 million funds for community upgrades such as sidewalk repairs and new signage. Construction will start soon and finish by next summer to welcome new residents. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ The Beavercreek Planning Commission approved a plan to build a new McDonald’s restaurant on the former Burger King site across from The Greene — the current building will be demolished to start construction. City Council will decide final approval at a Jan. 12 or Jan. 26 meeting. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Godfather’s Pizza closed its Wilmington Pike location and will soon move to the former KFC near Miami Valley Hospital South in Sugarcreek Township less than one mile away. The new site will feature a larger dining room and a dedicated parking lot for local diners. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ After 15 years of service, the Smashburger on Brown Street near UD has permanently closed its doors after posting a thank you sign at its storefront, while nearby spaces welcome new dining options. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Dayton-based CareSource is set to create 167 full-time jobs by expanding its headquarters with a 10-year tax credit approved at $2.3M — the move will boost its back-office capacity and support growth into new markets. WYSO

- ➤ Wright State University Alumni Association announced the 2026 Alumni Achievement Awards recipients who will be honored during Homecoming Week (Feb. 4 through 7). The honorees, picked from over 125,000 alumni, are recognized for their achievements, service and leadership. Wright State University
- ➤ Centerville-based teacher Heather Price of Driscoll Elementary published her first children’s book, The Day We Met an Angel, and donated copies to Centerville City Schools libraries + Washington-Centerville Public Libraries. - ➤ The Greater Dayton RTA invites students in grades K to 12 to design a unique bus for public transit in Montgomery County. This contest will give kids a chance to showcase their creativity in a community challenge. Dayton 24/7 Now

- ➤ The Greater Dayton RTA will offer free rides on Christmas and New Year’s Day with both fixed-route buses and RTA Connect while the call center remains open.
