  • With God’s Grace Church will collect unwrapped toy donations at Title Boxing Club (2120 East Dorothy Lane, Kettering) from Dec. 8 to 18 for its Annual Toy Giveaway on Dec. 20 at the Free Store. It is partnering with the Montgomery County Sheriff for a fill-a-cruiser event on Dec. 14.  WHIO-TV
  • YMCA of Greater Dayton announced a merger with Springfield Family YMCA that will take effect Jan. 1, making it the 14th branch. Springfield will remain open, and members will soon access programs and virtual resources across all 14 locations (following a 343,000 renovation upgrade).  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • Kroger reopened its Edgewood Marketplace Fuel Center after $3 million upgrades in late November and is offering special gas price deals and in-store offers today. The company celebrated by donating a check on Friday to the Northwest Dayton St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry & meeting increased customer demand.  Dayton Daily News
  • Ram truck owners in Dayton learned that 72,000 vehicles were recalled on December 05 to fix a faulty instrument panel, with dealers set to inspect and update the software or replace the panel clusters if needed.  WHIO-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ohio taxpayers spent nearly $463K on Elf The Musical, which ran for one night in Springfield and two nights in Akron this November. The production used state tax credits and hired local crew (about 90 people) to support local business and creative projects.  Dayton Daily News
  • Holly Days returns next week at Dayton Arcade, offering local vendors and festive holiday cheer. Megan Dunn Peters and Ariel Cameron from Ariel Cameron Leather will join the event to showcase seasonal offerings for locals.  Dayton 24/7 Now

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local nonprofit Diabetes Dayton shared details on health programs to support diabetic residents. Tammy Rasey explained the resources during an interview with Dayton 24/7 Now on Friday morning (the programs include free education and check-up services).  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Meagan Pant founded Miscarriage Support Dayton after her own pregnancy losses to help local families access mental health resources (including counseling and educational pamphlets). The nonprofit spreads awareness and offers support for those dealing with miscarriage.  WYSO

  • The Humane Society of Greater Dayton named its Pet of the Week to shine a light on a local animal up for adoption — the announcement invites community members to learn about pet care options.  Dayton 24/7 Now
