  • Starting in 2026, the Troy Historical Society will merge operations with The Overfield Tavern Museum and The Museum of Troy History — both retaining their names — to preserve local history.   • Dayton Realtors brought thousands of toys and donated 105 thousand dollars at Carillon Historical Park for Toys for Tots. The effort supports the program’s goal of giving every child a joyful holiday season.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • The Neighborhood Nest in Fairborn will close on Dec. 31 after 12½ years serving the allergy community. Owner Amber Tipton says the bakery is open this December for a final month to offer farewell treats (including cinnamon roles and breads).  Dayton937.com
  • Greenville now welcomes Ohio’s Blue Envelope Program to help people with disabilities feel safe during traffic stops. The Greenville PD partners with the Darke County Board of Developmental Disabilities and offers free kits at local law enforcement offices + other participating sites.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Young's Jersey Dairy is hosting a snow pile melting contest on Facebook for locals to guess when the parking lot pile will melt. Entries must include day and time + be submitted by Sunday, Dec. 7 at 11:59 p.m., and the winner gets two Club Cowvin passes for 2026.  WHIO-TV

  • Good Hands Bread Co. now opens at 527 Wayne Ave in the historic Dietz Block Building, offering rustic sourdough breads made from local ingredients. Co-owner Andrew Fisher said the bakery will roll out holiday treats soon after five years at 2nd Street Market.  WYSO
  • Investors have backed downtown Niobium with $23 million to speed the production of its second-generation fully homomorphic encryption chips at 444 E. Second St. — the funds will help transition its technology from prototype to production.  Dayton Daily News
  • Hospitalité Group will launch The Dessert Room on Dec. 11 at Dayton Arcade, offering elevated desserts and post-dinner cocktails in a dedicated space connected to Table 33. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wright State University was named to the 2025 Best for Vets: College list by Military Times, recognizing its commitment to military-connected students. The designation highlights support from faculty and staff for around 850 students each semester.  Dayton Daily News

  • In Kettering, the traffic lights at Far Hills Avenue and Laurelann Drive are running in flashing mode starting Monday. The signal set will be removed in early 2026 so officials can study its impact and add a median with a pedestrian refuge island.  Dayton Daily News
