  • WHIO-TV 7 Circle of Kindness is teaming with Morris Home, Ashley and Resident Home Association—groups that help with food, school supplies and animal care—to support Giving Tuesday and help Dayton residents in need.  WHIO-TV
  • The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center is limiting dog intakes to court-ordered cases for two weeks as it renovates kennels—staff will continue processing lost and found reports and pet scans during the upgrades.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Historic Clifton Mill at 75 Water St will glow with 5 million LED lights from Nov. 28 to Dec. 30, drawing families to a festive display that features 4,000 Santas and a 20-foot tree of light — an update that honors both tradition and community spirit. Patient ambassadors from Dayton Children’s and local charities will join the nights when special community events and donations are planned.  Dayton Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Carillon Historical Park will light up with the Tree of Light during A Carillon Christmas from Nov. 25 to Dec. 30 to mark its 10th anniversary as a gift from Connie Taylor. The display features thousands of lights on a 50-foot mast — and the 151-foot Deeds Carillon, Ohio’s largest with 57 bells, starts a new holiday tradition in Dayton.  Dayton Daily News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Ohio ranks 8th in turkey production, generating over $153 million and 273,280,000 pounds annually. Family-run Bowman and Landes Turkeys—operating since the early 1900s—produces more than 75,000 free-range turkeys each year to meet growing local demand.  WYSO

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County Solid Waste District urged residents to safely dispose of hazardous items like rechargeable batteries, electronics, and chemicals to help prevent fires as household waste increases this holiday season—residents can use the free Household Hazardous Waste Program operating on the first Tuesday of each month from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. through February.  Montgomery County
  • Jaime Shepherd from the Montgomery County Environmental Learning Center offered tips for a greener Thanksgiving by advising families to plan realistic meals—cutting waste with composting and reusing dishes. Montgomery County will host a recycling master class in February to help residents learn proper waste management.  WYSO

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At the Dayton VA, 19 employees took early retirement incentives on the West Third Street campus, which has about 2,300 workers and 200 job openings — officials said this turnover is normal as positions are filled. The center is also updating its electronic health records — a change meant to help doctors access patient records faster.  Dayton Daily News
  • Moraine city officials have begun planning a new splash pad at Ora Everetts Park on Kreitzer Road as part of the new Parks and Recreation Vision Plan; council approved starting the $250,000 design and development process with final costs to be determined through bidding. Parks and Recreation Director Brent Shane said the attraction will include amenities for all ages—such as large water slides visible from Interstate 75—and may open in spring if more planning time is needed.  Dayton Daily News
