- ➤ Miami Valley Meals will give away about 8,000 frozen Thanksgiving meals on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at Trotwood-Madison High School and Fairborn Phoenix — the drive-through event is free and first-come, first-served to help families facing SNAP delays. The organization produced 10% more meals this year and will continue to serve the community all year. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ The Foodbank is hosting a holiday drive-thru food distribution Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at its facility—this event, held in partnership with AES Ohio and the AES Ohio Foundation, will offer free pantry staples to local families with residents from Montgomery, Greene and Preble counties advised to enter the line by turning onto Mount Street from Washington Street no earlier than 8 a.m. WYSO
- ➤ On Sunday, three local women business owners joined forces in Huber Heights to give out free hot meals, desserts, and drinks at the Get Air parking lot—offering brownies from MY Chocolate Co., apple cider and hot chocolate from Diamond Daiquiris, and fish and chips from First Bite, Won’t Be Your Last to help community members as the holidays approached. - ➤ Oakwood grad Dominic Anastasio opened a new Forza Fitness gym at 222 W. Central Ave. in Springboro and hosted an open house on November 13 with over 100 attendees—saying the gym now offers private and semi-private training along with nutritional advising and has grown from 17 to 128 clients this year so far. - ➤ The Better Business Bureau in Dayton offered holiday budgeting tips to help shoppers avoid overspending — they advised consumers to save monthly and use rewards programs as Cyber Monday is expected to boost online sales. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The high school football state semifinals—scheduled for November 28 at 7 p.m.—will see local schools host games with winners advancing to the state championship in Canton from December 4 to 6. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Dayton native redshirt sophomore Josh Williams was named PFL Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting two passes on Saturday in Dayton’s 42-14 win at Davidson — his picks set up two touchdowns including a 32-yard return. He finished the season with six interceptions, the most since Brandon Easterling in 2019. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Last week, the Dayton Flyers beat Marquette in overtime and won at home against NC Central to bring their record to 5-1 — they will travel to Orlando for two games this week, including a Thanksgiving contest at 7:30 p.m. against Georgetown and a second game scheduled for Friday against either BYU or Miami.
