- ➤ Gem City Action is hosting a trivia night today at Eudora where host Jason and D’aga will lead five rounds of questions and teams earn bonus points when each member brings a donated food item—donation bins will also be available from 11/18 through 11/20 for those who cannot attend. - ➤ Local restaurants and churches are offering free meals to help residents after the government shutdown and SNAP suspension affected local food programs. Wheat Penny — a local restaurant on Wayne Avenue — served 600 meals before opening and will provide free meals next Tuesday to help people through Thanksgiving while nearby churches report doubled food pantry numbers. - ➤ A mass food distribution event will be held later this week in Harrison Township at the Dixie Twin Drive-In Theater located at 6201 N. Dixie Drive from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday. The Foodbank Inc. hosts the event and SICSA Pet Adoption and Wellness Center and Montgomery County Public Health will also take part with free vaccinations available and CareSource sponsoring the event. - ➤ Allegiant will start twice-weekly nonstop flights from Dayton International Airport to Myrtle Beach six months from now, giving local travelers a new option for beach vacations. Dayton’s director of aviation said the service adds to the 11 nonstop routes from the airport and reflects the airline’s confidence in the local market – the new flight will boost the region’s growing air network. - ➤ Allegiant Travel Company announced a new nonstop flight from Dayton International Airport to Myrtle Beach that will start on May 22 for one-way fares from $49—its plan also includes 30 routes connecting 35 cities nationwide. Dayton 24/7 Now

- ➤ Jenna Schroeder will read from a new graphic novel and sign books at The Cozy Book Nook’s grand opening on November 22 from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at 1400 E. 3rd St. in Dayton — the event will also feature behind-the-scenes stories and additional book signings — inviting families to enjoy a special literary afternoon. - ➤ AbsoluteCare opened a new care center at 1435 Cincinnati St. in Dayton that offers primary, urgent and mental health care—in addition to social support for housing, food and transportation—to help residents who miss out on regular health services. - ➤ The Port Authority approved a $750K term loan for the Dayton HoM Flats at Forest development while CityWide Development will supply another $750K in gap financing for 260 affordable housing units in Northwest Dayton near the former Julienne High School site—Magnus Capital Partners will redevelop the 13-acre property at 325 Homewood Ave. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Troy Green, manager of West Dayton's shuttered Green Bancroft Apartments, was permanently banned from owning affordable housing in New York after serious code violations left tenants in unsafe conditions and forced HUD to end Section 8 assistance.
