COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A local woman won $50,000 on a Holiday Millions scratch-off ticket bought at Circle K #5341 on S. County Rd 25A in Troy, and after a 27.125% tax deduction she will receive $36,437.50. The $30 ticket offers the best chance to win $500 with a top prize of $80,000 a year for life and overall odds of 1 in 3.21, according to the Ohio Lottery.  WHIO-TV

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Walgreens announced that hourly employees must work on six major holidays—Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day—to earn holiday pay. The policy change was reported in October after Sycamore Partners acquired the company and replaces the previous rule that paid workers even if they did not work.  WHIO-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Halcomb from Trotwood attended the opening of the largest traveling Auschwitz exhibit at Cincinnati Museum Center and shared her connection to the camp through her father's death march and liberation during World War II. The exhibit runs daily through April 12 and features personal artifacts and detailed displays that show how split-second decisions led to tragic losses — urging visitors to reflect on history and its impact today.  Dayton Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kettering City Schools will host a community forum at Kettering Middle School Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.—the district will present its 10-year facilities plan that includes a new middle school, renovations to KMS for 1,600 students, and the early closure of Van Buren due to high repair costs. The board will finalize the bond levy language Tuesday to secure state funding for the project.  Dayton Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Dayton Flyers split two games last week by losing at Cincinnati and winning at home over Bethune-Cookman. They will travel to Marquette Wednesday at 7 p.m.—they return home to host North Carolina Central Saturday at 2 p.m.  WHIO-TV
  • Area high schools will compete in regional football finals on Friday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m.—with games held at Trotwood, West Chester, Fairborn, Fairfield, Marysville, Piqua and Wapakoneta—while winners will advance to state semifinals on Nov. 28 and then to championships on Dec. 4-6 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton.  WHIO-TV
  • The Raiders won a championship title at Beaver-Vu Bowl with a score of 470—420 after topping the standings by over 300 pins in 16 Baker games on Saturday. The team will compete at the Bearcat Classic outside St. Louis this weekend and builds on strong teamwork as they prepare for a season restart in January.  Dayton Daily News
