- ➤ A new café is coming to the Dayton Metro Library’s main branch, run by the team behind The Ugly Duckling restaurant on E. Fifth Street. It will serve coffee, quick bites, and a community space designed to bring energy, unity, and love to Dayton though no opening date is announced. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Five Rivers MetroParks is opening the region's largest outdoor ice rink at Riverscape MetroPark on Nov. 28 with hours (11 a.m. to 10 p.m.) and planned skating theme nights running until the season ends on Feb. 27. Admission costs $7 with skate rentals at $3 and children under three enter free (with a paying adult). WHIO-TV
- ➤ The Foodbank will celebrate 50 years of service next year after distributing 17.5 million pounds of food last year to 114,000 local people facing food insecurity due to SNAP cuts and high food costs — the group raised its wholesale food purchase budget to $1 million and will deliver emergency food boxes this fall and early winter. - ➤ The Dayton Dragons have launched Deck the Diamond at Day Air Ballpark in Downtown Dayton to create a winter wonderland featuring over 1 million holiday lights and a synchronized music-and-light show every 10 minutes. The event offers train rides, scavenger hunts, carnival games and live musical performances — and will run until Jan 3. WHIO-TV

- ➤ John Barsala, a retired science teacher and high school football coach from Brookville, died on Thursday. He led the Blue Devil football team to a state runner-up finish in 1976 and won many league championships — his work in class and on the field inspired many students. WHIO-TV
- ➤ A recent study by WalletHub found that paying for college in Ohio consumed 57% of a household's income, making the state the 10th most expensive. The study compared in-state tuition and room and board with household income and noted that rising costs have led many students to take on an average debt of nearly $42,000 — a sign of increasing financial challenges. - ➤ A local woman won $50,000 on a $10 scratch-off ticket purchased from the Holiday Cash Vault at the AM-PM store on 3700 W 3rd Street in Dayton. Lottery officials said that after taxes she received about $36,438 and noted that players had a 1 in 3.50 chance of winning with this game. WHIO-TV

- ➤ A Dayton native and Air Force veteran, Trooper Kody Gullett was named Trooper of the Year at the Xenia Post for his excellent leadership and service. - ➤ The Toombs Stone Brothers Motorcycle Club hosted a benefit in New Carlisle for young cancer patient Larkin, who was diagnosed with B-ALL Leukemia at age 4 and is now in remission—members and community supporters celebrated his fifth birthday with a four-mile parade. - ➤ Black Barn Pickleball held its grand opening on Saturday morning at its new indoor facility in Riverside near Dayton, drawing hundreds of players to eight courts built for year-round play. Co-owner Mike Bettencourt said the facility will expand next year with additional courts—a plan that includes a bar and pro shop—to meet growing local demand. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Trotwood-Madison high school football team beat Harrison Wildcats 49-0—strong defense and special teams made key plays that led to the win. Coach Jeff Graham said the team practiced hard and will prepare for the Region 8 final against Cin. Anderson on Saturday. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Drake clinched a share of the Pioneer Football League title with a 14 to 6 win over the Dayton Flyers on Saturday at Welcome Stadium when two second-quarter touchdowns drove the game. The Flyers fell to a tie for fifth in the league and have one game left—Drake will try to win the outright title with a home win next weekend. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Wayne's high school football team beat Troy 20-14 in a Division I, Region II semifinal on Friday at Troy Memorial Stadium when Jamier Brown returned an 82-yard punt for a touchdown that gave them the lead. They will face No. 1 Middletown in the regional final on November 21 as they try to reach their first state semifinal since 2015. Dayton Daily News
