  • With God's Grace hosted a mobile food pantry Monday in Miamisburg to help furloughed workers and those losing SNAP benefits amid the shutdown—lines stretched onto the road as families waited for food. The organization will hold another food drive Wednesday, November 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 622 Springfield Street in Dayton where donations are also accepted.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Black Barn Pickleball will hold its grand opening on Saturday, November 15th at 10AM–6PM at 4740 Linden Ave — the event will offer open courts and giveaways for players of all skill levels.  Dayton937.com

  • On Monday, Joby Aviation began production of propeller blades at its Dayton facility, choosing the city for its strong aerospace heritage and skilled workforce.   • Nyminal Glass in Dayton offers holiday ornament making classes where owner Wagner teaches live glass blowing techniques, and participants will learn to craft unique 3- to 4-inch ornaments. An open house will be held Saturday, Nov.15 from 11 a.m.—3 p.m. with demos at noon and 2 p.m., and reservations are required for the $75 classes.  Dayton Daily News
  • Oakwood Historical Society has unveiled a new historical marker at Hawthorn Hill, the Wright family mansion, marking the town’s sixth marker to honor a site of national significance. The marker was developed with help from Dayton History and Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park — and the site offers guided tours on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  WHIO-TV

  • After voters approved Issue 9 on Nov. 4, city officials began studying next steps for the West Dayton public hospital levy that will generate about $2 million annually from 2027. Community leaders plan to form an 11-member board—led by the mayor with community input—to design and build the facility, though critics argue the revenue is too low for a full-service hospital.  Dayton Daily News

  • Dayton residents were urged to winterize their homes after five people were hospitalized on Monday when a generator running indoors increased carbon monoxide levels — officials advised checking furnace filters, clearing snow buildup, and testing smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
