- ➤ Miamisburg held a ceremony at Kingston where 10 veterans received certificates and gifts to thank them for their service — Mark Lafferty, the chaplain, said the event made veterans feel remembered. The Dayton VA Medical Center will hold its fourth annual Veterans Day parade featuring over 40 entries and a resource fair, while Boy Scouts clean Victory Oak Knoll on Saturday from 9 to 11. - ➤ An officer from the 445th Airlift Wing at Wright-Patterson was killed when a UPS-cargo plane crashed in Louisville on Tuesday, and UPS confirmed Capt. Richard Wartenberg was flying when an engine detached before takeoff causing at least 13 deaths. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ University of Dayton student Malinda Meyer (19) died unexpectedly in her dorm room in Marianist Hall on November 6 and campus resources remain available to anyone needing support. Campus Ministry held a support gathering on November 7 at the Chapel of Immaculate Conception and set up a memorial where students and staff can light a candle or pray in her memory. Flyer News

- ➤ Greene County Board of Commissioners set aside $50,000 in grants (for two food pantries) to help meet rising need during the government shutdown. Fairborn FISH served over 800 families recently and will hold food events for veterans on Nov 15 and for Thanksgiving on Nov 25. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ HUD has canceled its Section 8 contract with the Bancroft Apartments owner in West Dayton because the property did not fix serious health and safety issues.
