  • Warped Wing and Esther Price will unveil Esther’s Li’l Secret beer at their downtown taproom on Thursday, Nov. 6 at 4 p.m.—the limited-edition brew celebrates 100 years of Esther Price Candies and will come in 4-pack cans and barrel-aged bottles, with Fight Club members gaining early access at 3 p.m. as the event features live music and food and drink specials.  Dayton Daily News
  • Winsupply Inc. filed to rezone a parcel in Miami Township so it can double its distribution center by adding a 200,000-square-foot building—construction will begin in the first quarter next year. The expansion aims to support the company’s network of local entrepreneurs.  Dayton Daily News
  • Miami Valley Hospital bought property from a local Lutheran church in Englewood on Oct. 24 for nearly $2 million (the church continues holding services at 9100 N. Main) and said it currently has no plans for the building.  Dayton Daily News
  • Ohio defense firm Anduril completed the first test flight of its self-steering aircraft after 556 days, working with the Air Force under the collaborative combat aircraft program. The test gave hard data to shape future plans+cut risk for advancing the project.  Dayton Daily News

  • Art Encounters invites Dayton locals to a free First Friday Art Hop at 1001 E 2nd St.—the event offers local art browsing, shopping, light refreshments, and welcomes families along with leashed pets.  Dayton937.com
  • The Four Winds Indigenous Fashion Show, led by Ruby Redfox Irwin, will highlight Indigenous fashion, handmade goods, food, and live performances on November 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Tank at the Dayton Arcade.  DaytonLocal.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dayton voters passed a 1-mill tax levy with 58% support to fund a public hospital in West Dayton that will generate about $2 million annually as directed by a mayor-appointed board—an effort to address local healthcare disparities.  WHIO-TV
  • The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services will reduce maximum SNAP benefits by half after new federal guidance on partial payments and is recalculating monthly allotments for current recipients. About 1.4 million Ohioans who normally receive millions in food benefits are affected, and local officials have reallocated funds to support food assistance—helping food banks in several counties.  Dayton Daily News
  • The Ohio Department of Transportation announced that crews will shift barrier walls and reopen the ramp from Wagner-Ford Road to northbound I-75 between Needmore Road and Leo Street over this weekend—work will begin Saturday night. The new traffic pattern, which includes a single northbound contraflow lane and closures at ramps on Keowee Street, Webster Street, Ohio 4/48, Stanley Avenue and Needmore Road, will remain in effect through 2026—drivers are advised to plan alternate routes.  Dayton Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Montgomery County Environmental Services said repair work is underway after a water main broke on Tuesday afternoon along Free Pike near Ohio 49 — prompting a boil advisory for parts of Trotwood. Residents on E. Main Street and Broadmoor 1 plat must boil water for at least three minutes before use, and officials will notify when the advisory is lifted.  Dayton Daily News
