EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jefferson Township Local Schools District is asking voters to support Issue 23, a one percent tax on wages to help pay teachers and keep the school running.   • Paul Otten of Beavercreek City Schools was named Ohio Superintendent of the Year for 2026 for his innovative leadership and focus on student success – he will compete for the national honor at the AASA National Conference in February.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Wright State University’s School of Nursing has been reaccredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education for its bachelor's, master's, advanced practice certificate and new Doctor of Nursing Practice programs — most for 10 years and the new doctorate for 5 years. The accreditations help graduates sit for licensure exams and work with local partners like Premier Health, Kettering Health and Dayton Children’s Hospital.  Wright State University

  • Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority extended its contract with Legends Global to manage the Dayton Convention Center for 10 more years until 2036—after a $45 million renovation upgraded its exhibit halls, ballrooms, and meeting rooms. HEALTH NEWS

  • GSK has partnered with senior athletes from the National Senior Games to educate older adults on preventing RSV, a serious respiratory illness common in fall and winter.
