  • A Fricker’s restaurant in Huber Heights closed temporarily after a small fire damaged its video game area and exterior wall on Sunday morning—firefighters said no one was injured and repairs are underway with an estimated $5,000 in damage.  WHIO-TV

  • Chris Kershner, CEO of the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce, warned that social media now punishes cooperative efforts by fueling intense online backlash—making officials and citizens hesitate to work together.   • The Dayton Book Fair is seeking a new warehouse-type building—needed to store donated books and inventory—as it prepares for its 55th fair from November 7-9 at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds.   • Crystal Lake, an English professor at Wright State, is researching how old readers turned books into crafts in the 1600s and 1700s—she is writing a book that will show examples of items from needlework to board games.   • Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University partnered with Intel to add artificial intelligence training to its curriculum—giving faculty free, custom course materials and certification opportunities.
