  • Rajesh Soin will receive the 74th Citizen Legion of Honor award today at Sinclair in Dayton for his over 40 years of leadership and community work in business, health care, and software development + a reception starts at 10:30 a.m. with the program following at 11:15 a.m.  Dayton Daily News
  • The City of Moraine will host a Boo Bash on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Gerhardt Civic Center from 5 to 9 p.m.—residents can enjoy indoor trick-or-treating, hayrides, food trucks and a kids’ inflatable zone, and they are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to watch a movie in Ora Everett Park.  WDTN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced early voting is underway for the general election on Nov. 4—polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. as residents cast ballots early.  Spectrum News 1
  • The Montgomery County Board of Elections split 2—2 over forming an investigation team for allegations that director Rezabek verbally attacked county officials during a September 16 meeting. Board members said his behavior was not isolated and they considered referring the matter to the Ohio Secretary of State while their attorney reviewed board policy.  Dayton Daily News
  • Dayton voters began voting in person downtown today as candidates stressed the importance of every ballot. Mayor Jeffrey Mims and his running mates Karen Wick and Darius Beckham called for community participation—early voting will continue until Nov 4 while Commissioner Shenise Turner-Sloss prepares to challenge the mayor.  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • Dayton Children’s Hospital earned national recognition from U.S. News & World Report for its neonatology, orthopedics, and pediatric mental health programs, including a first-time ranking of 47 for neonatology.
