  • The Dayton Art Institute is asking for community volunteers for its annual Oktoberfest, which will take place on the museum grounds from September 26—28. Those who sign up on or after September 18 will receive a free 2024 Oktoberfest mug and additional benefits such as free general admission and complimentary drinks.  DaytonLocal.com

  • Huber Heights is set to get Ohio's first Buc-ee’s in April 2026 after early project delays and a legal dispute pushed back its planned 2025 opening — the gas station will be located along State Route 235 and Interstate 70 and feature 120 gas pumps and 700 parking spaces.  WHIO-TV

  • A threat overheard at Stebbins High School in Riverside led to a temporary lockdown on September 18th—police and canines confirmed the threat was unsubstantiated and classes resumed.  Dayton Daily News

  • The City of Trotwood issued a cease and desist order to Pleasantwood Apartments and Townhomes after changing the assisted living facility into multi-family units without proper permits—residents report mold and no air conditioning.  WHIO-TV

  • Bistecca Italian Steakhouse in Dayton’s Theater District offers pre-race dinner options chosen by Executive Chef Jacob Rodibaugh for runners set to start the Air Force Marathon, half-marathon and 10-K races tomorrow at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base—meals include carb-loaded pasta, gnocchi and meat dishes while high-calorie brunch options help refuel competitors.  Dayton Daily News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Design Homes plans to expand Washington Twp. Estates by building 97 luxury homes in two phases—if market demand stays strong, construction will likely begin around 2028. The new homes will mirror 38 previously approved houses along Clyo Road, average about 3,500 square feet, and cost between $1.3 million and $2.5 million.  Dayton Daily News
