  • Juli Burnell of Ellie's Rainy Day Fund said Wednesday that the group helped Trisha's family cover a costly vet emergency with loyal pup Kash providing comfort — the organization will soon host its Dog on the Catwalk event to celebrate 10 years of service — supporting local pet owners in need.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Local churches in Dayton held a service on Sunday to honor immigrants impacted by ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) policies that led to more detentions and deportations.   • Volunteers are needed for the Expressions of Peace Expo at the Dayton Convention Center on Saturday, September 20 (9 AM to 4 PM) to help run free workshops, health screenings, a community lunch, and a conversation with Mayor Jeff Mims.   • A new report from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce shows that small businesses in Dayton are quickly using generative AI and crypto to change how they work.   • Former Kurz-Kasch Inc. chairman John Taylor—who led the company for 27 years after buying it in 1974—died at 90. His funeral is set for noon today at St. Albert the Great in Kettering.  Dayton Daily News
  • Construction will begin this fall on Tiffany’s on Third— a boutique dry bar offering quick, high-end beauty services with group booking options and a separate entrance at 30 W. Third St.— and it is expected to open early in 2026 with owner Tiffany Goins, a Dayton native, leading the venture.  Dayton Daily News
  • Amazon will open a same-day delivery facility at the C5 Encore Logistics Center in Turtlecreek Twp to create over 125 full-time jobs and speed up deliveries for Prime members. The 538,000-square-foot warehouse will use advanced robotics—autonomous mobile robots that move orders quickly—and is part of a plan to turn state-owned land into a new economic hub.  Dayton Daily News

  • Deputies warned that scammers had targeted area homeowners with foreclosure scams—residents are urged to verify any unexpected foreclosure notices to avoid falling victim.  WHIO-TV

  • Dayton’s Old Courthouse, built in 1850, is a historic landmark that has hosted speeches by presidents like Lincoln, Kennedy and Reagan—each moment helping launch their national careers.   • Sierra Nevada Corp. is flight-testing the Air Force’s modified E-4C 'Doomsday' plane in Dayton and will conduct further ground and flight tests next year in Dayton and Wichita+ it is set to open a new maintenance hangar at Dayton International next month to support its work.  Dayton Daily News
  • Montgomery County hosted its 6th reentry career fair in Dayton last Wednesday, where employers approached former inmates to review their resumes—reducing the stress of traditional job fairs. The program helped over 1,100 participants secure jobs and will hold its next event in Dayton in April.  WHIO-TV
  • The City of Trotwood is taking legal action against Pleasantwood Senior Apartments and Townhomes for zoning violations after the complex changed its use from assisted living to a multi-family dwelling without proper approval.   • At Piqua High School, girls golf coach Brad Kuhlman in his sixth year led the team to finish fourth in the MVL Tournament on Monday and they will enter OHSAA sectionals starting Wednesday through Sept. 27.
