- ➤ A Dayton man is accused of shooting a 51-year-old during an apparent drug deal on June 28 in a home on Middlehurst Lane and now faces attempted murder, aggravated burglary, and improperly discharging a firearm—Joe Phelps Jr. is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18 and remains in Montgomery County Jail. Nelson Sr. — 35 — pleaded guilty to murder, felonious assault, and theft after fatally shooting Lafeon Hamilton on the 1900 block of Shaftesbury Road, and he was sentenced to 21 years and nine months in prison following a 100 mph police chase after stealing a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe.
