- ➤ A Dayton man, Ashton LJ Brooks — 19 — pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated robbery in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court after luring Facebook Marketplace customers to Elmwood Avenue in Dayton and robbing them of cash and shoes between Dec. 18, 2024 and Jan. 9 as digital evidence linked him to all five robberies; he is scheduled for sentencing — Sept. 16 —. - ➤ Deputies responded to a report of a gunshot wound at Deerfield Township Fire Station 57 on Sunday afternoon and the victim was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts — a suspect was charged with felonious assault and murder and is now held at Warren County Jail. Dayton 24/7 Now

- ➤ Ohio Sen. Jon Husted proposed a federal law that would let career tech students at Stebbins High School keep SNAP and school lunch benefits even when earning money — he said the measure would help break the cycle of poverty and supply local companies with skilled workers. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Westwood elementary in West Dayton added a game room this week to give students a fun place to learn and practice good behavior—using about $10,000 from the principal’s fund and planning coding sessions with high school students. The school also bought gaming tables and chairs for an extra $27,000 to complete the setup. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ Workers at Germantown Dam are repairing the concrete floor in its right conduit to protect communities and billions in property value across the region. The Miami Conservancy District said the repair will finish by late October—allowing crews to safely divert river water through the other conduit during the work. Dayton 24/7 Now
- ➤ Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation will close northbound I-75 between Needmore Road and Benchwood Road tonight from Midnight to 5 a.m. for emergency repairs to a bridge—damaged when an oversized truck struck it last year—while traffic is diverted onto Needmore Road and North Dixie until the road reopens after about eight nights of work. - ➤ The Dayton VA Medical Center got a four-star rating from Medicare and Medicaid Monday—based on patient safety, care, and experience—and said it will keep working to improve service for veterans.
