  • A person fell from the Tree Tower at Cox Arboretum MetroPark on Friday around 5:15 p.m.—first responders arrived at 6333 Springboro Pike, and officials have not confirmed if the person was taken to a hospital.  Dayton Daily News

  • A new dual-branded Marriott hotel is now open near the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek, offering 160 rooms split between the economy Fairfield Inn & Suites and long-stay TownePlace Suites. Family-owned Scarlet and Gray Hospitality built the hotel over 18 months—replacing a former Sears parking lot—and plans a similar project on another site.  Dayton Daily News

  • Police are looking for two individuals accused of stealing from the Kroger on East Stroop Road in Kettering after an incident reported on September 06 at 11:11 a.m.—the investigation remains open.  WHIO-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Richard McCauley has led the Miriam Rosenthal Foundation for the Arts in Dayton for nearly four decades and now marks its 60th anniversary by funding four upcoming projects in the art season. He began at the foundation in 1983 and will support shows like a music debut, an opera, and a dance event—bringing art to the community.  Dayton Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Miami Valley School in Washington Twp. opened a new dining facility, study, and art space as part of ongoing renovations that will repurpose the old gym, cafeteria, and meeting room. The school has raised 75% of its $8.5 million goal and will unveil the renovated Indira and B.K. Reddy Student Union in February—donations continue to support the project.  Dayton Daily News
