  • The Dayton NAACP Branch was recognized at the 116th NAACP National Convention in Charlotte where local leaders earned national roles and high school students competed in the ACT-SO contest—this honor shows their strong work for civil rights.  Dayton Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Dayton Police Department held a public meeting on Thursday at the Burkhardt branch of Dayton Metro Library to discuss plans that include reintroducing gunshot detection, expanding automated license plate readers, and testing drones—measures intended to boost community safety. The department will gather more input at a meeting on Monday the 8th at the library’s northwest branch before bringing the proposals to the City Commission by year-end.  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. testified before the Senate Finance Committee on Sept. 4 and faced criticism for firing all 17 CDC vaccine advisers and changing COVID vaccine guidance—Ohio kindergarten vaccination rates fell to a new low of 85.4% this school year.  Spectrum News 1

  • Home prices in the Miami Valley surged in the first half of 2025—median sale prices jumped from $231,000 in January to $275,000 by June and nearly 9% to $270,000 in July, keeping the market competitive despite low inventory.
