COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Miamisburg is set to celebrate a nearly $10.3M upgrade of Sycamore Trails Park with new roads, parking, shelters, playgrounds, sports courts, a rebuilt fishing pond, and walking trails. The grand opening on Sept. 6 will feature tournaments, a community picnic, food trucks, and shuttle service to help visitors access both parking lots.  Dayton Daily News
  • Zion Lutheran will host a free community festival featuring food, music by Back At It, hundreds of prizes, more than 20 games, and attractions (petting zoo, pony rides, hay ride, scavenger hunt). The festival will also offer entertainment by Ranger Ric, magician Doug Nagel, face painters, and juggler David Cain along with booths from Miami Valley Fire, Police and Montgomery County Job and Family Services.  Dayton937.com
  • Debbie Stahl of Community Table helped supply school supplies to 700 Northmont kids in early August and is organizing events to provide food, coats, and emergency rent support through Christmas — efforts that address rising living costs for local families. CRIME NEWS

  • Late Sunday night, large gatherings and multiple incidents near the University of Dayton led UD police and city police to clear the streets in the student neighborhood and have students return to their residences — Brown Street was shut down briefly and then reopened with no injuries reported.  WHIO-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • DAYTON MUSIC FEST 2025 is set for September 5 and 6 and will feature local artists in a multi-venue, multi-genre showcase in Dayton. Tickets cost $10 per venue per day (or $15 for all venues per day and $25 for both days) and will be sold at the door.  Dayton937.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • Doctor Patel says vascular dementia, which is caused by reduced blood flow from strokes, can be partly prevented with healthy habits—such as quitting smoking and limiting alcohol—and he notes more local patients ask how to protect their cognitive health.
