CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Deputies with Montgomery County Sheriff's Office took a man into custody on Oneida Avenue after a lengthy search following a domestic violence call + officers are now investigating the incident further. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Shane M. Blake—37—from Tipp City was indicted on charges of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and possessing drug paraphernalia following a struggle with Dayton police on Aug. 20 that sent an officer to the ICU with a head injury; the officer is now recovering at home while Blake is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday and held on a $20,000 bond. - ➤ Israel Ludlow from New Jersey surveyed land in 1795 and planned the town that became Dayton, and the city might have had a different name if not for his work. He marked boundaries across Ohio and many local streets and landmarks are named after him—his work shaped Dayton’s history. Dayton Daily News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Huber Heights schools unveiled a Military Wall of Honor—displaying the names, branches and graduation years of Wayne High School alumni who served—in a front hallway near the main entrance. The project began two years ago and involved collaboration between the Board of Education, the city and local groups while receiving a $10,000 city donation and local contributions. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Dayton Public Schools announced today that a Franklin County Court granted an extended injunction so that RTA bus passes will be provided for high school students through the 2025–2026 school year—case hearings will resume in September. Superintendent David Lawrence said community testimony in Columbus helped secure the decision. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ House Bill 331 requires Ohio villages to prove they offer at least five services and fill every public office with certified candidates or face a vote to dissolve their government in a future election. Village officials in Clifton and nearby communities say the rule is unfair and fear it may force historic towns to risk dissolution—threatening long-held traditions. Dayton Daily News
