- ➤ The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office launched a mentorship program in March to pair deputies with teens in group homes to help reduce emergency calls. - ➤ A Dayton man pleaded guilty to two counts each of murder, felonious assault, and failure to obey police orders and one count of grand theft for shooting 35-year-old Lafeon Hamilton two years ago—he is set to be sentenced on Sept. 8 after police said he fled in a stolen car at nearly 100 mph. - ➤ Dayton families have little time to take advantage of federal tax credits for home energy improvements and electric vehicles that could save them thousands. - ➤ The Board of Education approved a new plan requiring Dayton Public Schools students to wear a visible student ID and sign a Code of Conduct with the school district—students who do not comply risk having their district-purchased bus pass taken away.
