  • Restaurants in Dayton’s Oregon District are facing a summer slump as customer visits drop because of back-to-school schedules and extreme weather—many are offering budget specials and fun events to spur business.   • Hamilton police are searching for a 59-year-old man reported missing and ask anyone with information to contact them—official sources have not provided further details.  WHIO-TV
  • A Riverside woman named Krystal M. Connelly pleaded guilty to cocaine possession on Aug. 14 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court—her plea follows a joint task force investigation that seized drugs, cash, firearms, and a vehicle, and she will be sentenced on Sept. 11 while co-defendant Justyn D. Yahle previously pleaded guilty to trafficking cocaine.  Dayton Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dayton Public Schools approved a resolution on Tuesday to buy 3,500 RTA bus passes amid a legal dispute with the state — the district requires visible student IDs for safety and will spend $30,000 on extra security at the RTA hub before September 1.   • Montgomery County donated $1M to The Foodbank on Tuesday after learning the agency would face reduced food support from state and federal sources.
