  • Wolf Creek in West Dayton is seeing major changes as new housing projects and levee redesigns aim to boost community safety and access to local amenities. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A $16 million settlement was reached in December in a wrongful death lawsuit for a crash near Dayton airport last year that killed four people and injured one—if the estates and injured party do not agree on fund distribution, a jury trial is set for April 27, 2026.  Dayton Daily News

  • On Wednesday evening, a shooting injured at least one person in East Dayton as a chaotic 911 call from Lombard Avenue captured voices in distress—Montgomery County Regional Dispatch has not confirmed how many were hurt or if there were any fatalities.  Dayton 24/7 Now

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Sinclair Community College, Senator Jon Husted said Pell Grants now can fund short-term workforce training under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act—helping low-income students meet work and school rules for Medicaid—while local employers look for more skilled workers.  Dayton Daily News
  • Kettering Health Network donated 28 hospital beds and four stretchers to Cedarville University's School of Nursing to boost its training for the 2025 to 2026 school year. Eight beds were delivered on August 11 and the other 20 will arrive by August 18—updating old equipment and supporting global health services.  WHIO-TV

  • A congressional field hearing at the Air Force Museum reviewed how the Defense Production Act supports Wright-Patt’s work in keeping defense manufacturing strong as the act nears expiration next month—lawmakers called for streamlining the process and expanding funding flexibility to boost emerging technologies.  Dayton Daily News

  • Versiti Blood Center of Ohio-Dayton urgently needs O positive and B positive blood donors after recent car accidents and surgeries reduced the supply for 32 hospitals — the center needs 350 units daily. Donors who give blood by August 31 will be entered into a sweepstakes for Bengals season passes and donors between August 18th and 24th will receive a $25 gift card.  WHIO-TV
