- ➤ The 7 Circle of Kindness School Supply Drive raised over $23,000 in supplies for Crayons to Classroom, benefiting more than 140 area schools and over 50,000 students—this total far exceeds last year's donations of about $16,000. WHIO-TV

- ➤ The family of Brittany Fuhr-Storm, a 28-year-old pregnant woman found dead in a sealed plastic tote on Aug. 3 near Twin Creek in Montgomery County, thanked detectives for support while investigators in Middletown arrested two men—James Rotherbusch and Rick Sheppard—for charges including corpse abuse and tampering with evidence as her cause of death remains unsolved. - ➤ Montgomery County has launched Away is Somewhere to teach students and families about waste management — the campaign uses everyday trash to show how waste is handled and aims for a cleaner future. Dayton 24/7 Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dayton Public Schools filed a lawsuit on Aug. 11, arguing that a state law stopping them from buying bus passes for high school students is arbitrary—unreasonable and discriminatory, a change that risks students missing class. The district asked a judge to block the law temporarily until the case is resolved. WHIO-TV
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Hospital Ballot and the Clery Community Coalition turned in over 2,400 signatures to the City Commissioner for a new public hospital in Dayton—meeting the 20-day rule after an earlier petition was rejected. If the petition makes it to the ballot and passes, taxes will be collected next year and funding for the phased project will begin in 2027 with a goal of full operation by 2032. Dayton 24/7 Now
- ➤ Yesterday, members of the Hospital Ballot Committee and Clergy Community Coalition delivered a fourth petition with 2,800 signatures to Dayton City Commissioners asking for a public hospital in West Dayton after previous efforts were rejected—if approved, the project will provide $2 million a year as seed money to fund hospital development and address local health care needs following the Good Samaritan Hospital closure in 2018.
