ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A large fire at Hidden Lakes Apartment Homes in Miamisburg on Saturday night hospitalized two people and left eight apartments vacant as multiple families were rehoused (the blaze began around 9:40 p.m. and is under investigation).  WDTN
  • A neighbor saw smoke coming from an attic on Katy Lane in Englewood at 3 p.m. Sunday and quickly called 911 when a fire—reportedly caused by burning weeds too close to the house—spread to damage the garage, kitchen, attic and second story, displacing the family though no injuries were reported.  WHIO-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday night, a body was found in a cooler near Manning Road and Anthony Road in Jackson Township, and Jackson Township Police + Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation as the coroner removed the body for an autopsy while Anthony Road remains closed until further notice.  WHIO-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dayton will launch the Senior Safe program on Aug. 18 to have fire department EMTs conduct daily wellness checks—by phone and home visits—on residents 65 and older with mobility challenges. The program aims to quickly respond to falls, which affect more than one in four seniors each year.  Dayton Daily News
