- ➤ Dayton Energy Collaborative received a $1.7 million grant from the city to expand its home repair and weatherization program in Dayton—aimed at boosting home safety and energy efficiency. It will get $345,000 in the first year to double its staff and serve 250 additional homes. WYSO

- ➤ A six-year-old named Mila Thrush died at Dayton Children’s Hospital on July 24 after she suffered severe injuries in a car crash on July 9 on Shephard Road in Miami Township — the speeding vehicle struck trees while carrying her, her father, and another child who had minor injuries, and the investigation continues with the father expected to face charges. - ➤ Ron and Laura Music from Beavercreek hired TS Compliance Group in April to cancel their timeshare contracts — they paid about $9,000 and did not get the money-back guarantee promised. They filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, and consumer advocates say owners should first contact their timeshare companies for exit help. WHIO-TV

- ➤ Federal agents arrested Jeffrey Dorsey, 60, from Dayton on Tuesday after he left a voicemail that threatened to kill a U.S. Congressman if Medicaid was cut—he appeared in court Wednesday and now faces federal charges that can carry up to five years in prison. WHIO-TV

- ➤ The Montgomery County Board of County Commissioners cancelled the ED/GE Fall Funding Cycle on July 30 due to budget uncertainty and redirected $1 million to The Foodbank, Inc. to help feed people in our county. More details on the board’s support will be shared soon. Montgomery County
- ➤ A group of Dayton residents and University of Dayton Human Rights Center students studied civilian oversight for Montgomery County Jail and presented their findings in a virtual town hall after submitting a petition with over 2,000 signatures. The coalition plans to deliver its ten recommendations to county officials later this week — calling for an independent review of jail practices — to improve transparency and accountability.
