- ➤ Two local women-owned groups have partnered to recycle leftover Styrofoam coolers from a popsicle shop into winter shelters for homeless cats. The project cuts recycling costs & supports local animal charities by repurposing waste into safe shelters. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ The local non-profit Clothes That Work is moving to a new building (2824 Wilmington Pike in Kettering) to meet growing client demand after serving more than 4,300 people last year. The group will start accepting donations and operating on July 23 and will host an open house on Aug. 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ The St. Vincent DePaul shelter on Apple Street is not accepting new single women guests until current residents move to stable housing. - ➤ Dayton police responded at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday night to a shooting on the 500 block of West Fairview Avenue—finding 55-year-old Shawn Irvin shot dead inside his vehicle as confirmed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Beavercreek police say an altercation at a Home Depot on July 17 at 5:47 p.m.—where one person brandished a gun leading to a vehicle chase and one shot being fired—resulted in a suspect being detained with no injuries reported. WDTN

- ➤ The city of Moraine said the right lane of northbound Springboro Pike from Northlawn Avenue to the I-75 on-ramp will be closed for road improvements starting July 21—this closure may last for up to four weeks while business and side roads remain open. WDTN
