ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 9-year-old was seriously injured after being hit by a pickup truck on Tuesday afternoon in Dayton; emergency crews responded to the crash at the 1400 block of W. Grand Avenue (2:30 p.m.).  Dayton Daily News

  • A Cincinnati staple was ranked the best regional fast food restaurant for the second year in a row by USA Today 10Best — Skyline Chili beat competitors Biscuitville and In-N-Out Burger.  WDTN
  • A Dayton-area defense firm is upgrading its new headquarters at 3250 Kettering Blvd to finish renovations and plan the move from its former site while preparing to handle key aerospace and defense projects. CEO Onome Scott-Emuapkor said the $500,000 investment will add offices, a lab, testing equipment, & a demo room as the firm awaits pending contracts to create new jobs.  Dayton Daily News
  • Joby Aviation said its facility near Dayton International Airport began ramping up production and testing of flying taxi parts while its first Ohio team members trained in Marina. The company plans to scale the site to support up to 500 aircraft per year — and its expanded California facility now covers 435,500 square feet to produce 24 aircraft annually.  Dayton Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Families in the Miami Valley can get summer heat relief through the Summer Crisis Program if their income is at or below 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Line (for example, $56,262.50 for a family of four) and they meet additional criteria such as having an older member, a heat-sensitive medical condition, or facing electric service issues. MVCAP will help with electric bills, A/C repairs, and fan or unit purchases with benefits of up to $500 for regulated utilities, $800 for unregulated ones, and up to $1,500 for repairs for residents in Darke, Greene, Montgomery and Preble counties who schedule an appointment by phone or in person.  WDTN
