  • Family and friends gathered at Dayton International Airport to honor Army Sergeant Jaden Nuveman, who died on June 23 before his 21st birthday—his body was flown from Hawaii and picked up by a local funeral home. Attendees remembered him as a kind person who always helped others.  WHIO-TV
  • The Foodbank, Inc. will hold a drive-thru food distribution this Thursday at Montgomery County Fairgrounds at 645 Infirmary Road from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.—guests must use Infirmary Road to enter and clear trunk space—and volunteers from the Montgomery County Food Equity Coalition and SICSA will provide fresh produce, proteins, shelf-stable items, and pet food while attendees brace for potentially wet, muddy conditions if weather delays occur.  Dayton Daily News

  • Police responded after 3 a.m. on N. Findlay St. yesterday, hospitalizing a man with a non-life-threatening stab wound and arresting a suspect—21-year-old—now held in Montgomery County Jail.  WDTN
  • Dayton police responded at 3:30 a.m. Saturday on the 400 block of Xenia Avenue when seven-year-old Hershall Creachbaum, a boy with autism, was reported missing and later found dead—court records reveal that Michael Kendrick, the child's mother's boyfriend, admitted to injuring him and disposing of his body near railroad tracks.  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • Local nurse and artist Angie Holycross hosts a monthly cross-stitch meetup at The Barrel House brewery to help Dayton residents build community—many find calm and connection through the craft after COVID isolation.
