- ➤ Rumpke has urged Dayton residents to follow safe disposal practices & recycling guidelines for fireworks, pool chemicals, lithium-ion batteries, and other items as July 4th approaches. Randy Broadright noted that soaking spent fireworks and returning empty propane tanks to proper facilities can help prevent bin, dumpster, and truck fires. WDTN
- ➤ The Montgomery County Fair will open Sunday with long-running attractions—such as petting zoos, a Cincinnati Circus act, and livestock shows—along with new events including daily monster truck and pony rides, a drone show on July 6, and a pro-wrestling event on July 7. The fair runs from noon to 10:00 p.m. daily from July 6 to July 12, offering various ticket options and air-conditioned indoor spaces. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ Dayton Public Schools students will no longer use school-issued bus passes to go through the downtown transit hub next school year due to a provision in the state budget signed Monday by Gov. Mike DeWine — Superintendent David Lawrence said meetings with board members, principals, and community members will explore new options as many high schoolers rely on these passes for school and work. - ➤ Over 100 Wright State first-year science and math students gathered in the Student Union Atrium to celebrate completing two semesters with food, prizes, games and four students receiving $500 scholarships—dean Ayşe Şahin hopes the event will inspire similar celebrations in other colleges. - ➤ Ohio’s new budget for fiscal years 2026 and 2027 allocates $60 billion in state funds plus additional federal dollars and was signed by Governor DeWine after he vetoed 67 provisions, including changes to property tax rules and library material placement. Lawmakers are split as the plan funds child care, infrastructure, and a Cleveland Browns stadium project while also including a Medicaid trigger that may reduce coverage for many Ohioans.
