- ➤ On Saturday night, five people were shot at a party in Springfield on the 1000 block of West Rose Street at about 10:45 p.m., with one person dying at the scene and others rushed to Miami Valley Hospital, Springfield Regional Medical Center and Kettering Health Springfield. WDTN
- ➤ At the Huber Heights Star-Spangled Celebration, a trash can exploded with an unknown device—injuring two juveniles and sparking unfounded active shooter reports that led police to make multiple arrests and break up a fight near Brandt Pike Place. WDTN

- ➤ WYSO honored Mary Evans, a journalist who created ReEntry Stories to share voices of people reentering society, after she died on June 19 at age 42. Over 60 people gathered on June 23 to celebrate her legacy, which includes co-founding the Journalism Lab and working on voter registration for the formerly incarcerated — her work made a lasting mark on local journalism.
