Good morning, Dayton.

Hundreds of Dayton residents dropped off hard-to-recycle items during the Saturday morning 7 Circle of Kindness Community Recycling Drive at the News Center 7 lot, with vehicles lining up early to access different drop-off stations.

The event, sponsored by Morris Home Ashley and the Resident Home Association, teamed up with local groups like Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley — which diverted 22 million pounds from landfills last year.

Jamin Brenner, 36, was indicted for aggravated murder and aggravated arson after a six-month investigation into the intentional fire that killed his 86-year-old grandmother at her Neave Township home—he was arrested in Dayton on June 27 and is awaiting arraignment.

Police responded to a shooting in the 4000 block of Middlehurst Lane before 2 p.m.—medics also arrived immediately at the scene.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed Michele Henne from Oakwood as a judge on Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas last Thursday to fill the vacancy left by Judge Richard Skelton’s retirement on Dec.
