  • Hundreds of Dayton residents dropped off hard-to-recycle items during the Saturday morning 7 Circle of Kindness Community Recycling Drive at the News Center 7 lot, with vehicles lining up early to access different drop-off stations. The event, sponsored by Morris Home Ashley and the Resident Home Association, teamed up with local groups like Goodwill Easterseals Miami Valley — which diverted 22 million pounds from landfills last year.  WHIO-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Jamin Brenner, 36, was indicted for aggravated murder and aggravated arson after a six-month investigation into the intentional fire that killed his 86-year-old grandmother at her Neave Township home—he was arrested in Dayton on June 27 and is awaiting arraignment.  WDTN
  • Police responded to a shooting in the 4000 block of Middlehurst Lane before 2 p.m.—medics also arrived immediately at the scene.  WHIO-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Governor Mike DeWine appointed Michele Henne from Oakwood as a judge on Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas last Thursday to fill the vacancy left by Judge Richard Skelton’s retirement on Dec. 31. Henne will assume office on July 30 and must run for election in November 2026 to retain her seat.  WHIO-TV
