ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A local high school lost 17-year-old Elijah Berman in a motorcycle crash Tuesday at 5:12 p.m. on the ramp from Interstate 75 to State Route 123 in Franklin when a semi-truck hit his motorcycle — he was rushed to Atrium Medical Center and later died.  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • The sheriff’s office is looking for a missing 14-year-old girl (wearing grey Jordan sweatpants, brown Ugg sneakers, and brown glasses) and asks anyone with information (even a small tip) to come forward.  WHIO-TV
  • Dayton police arrested a driver for fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run+ that critically injured an older bicyclist at the intersection of E. Third Street and N. Findlay Street on June 26 at 11:30 a.m., with investigators noting that the bicyclist had ridden against a 'do not walk' signal.  WDTN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Preschool Promise invested $900,000 to add a new outdoor playground and learning lab at Rainbow Years Child Care in East Dayton to help young kids play and learn. The project was supported by the PNC Foundation, the city, SHP, and Grunder Landscaping+ they worked together to design a safe space for all children.  Dayton Daily News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A report shows Ohio lost 6.9 million acres of farmland to development from 1950 to 2000 and farmland dropped from 13.7 to 13.5 million acres between 2023 and 2024, mainly due to new houses near Dayton. Local officials and residents in areas like Springboro + Clearcreek worry that rapid growth may erase rural charm and strain local resources.  Dayton Daily News
