  • Five Rivers MetroParks rangers will join the nationwide Operation Dry Water campaign from July 4 to July 6 by conducting vessel safety checks at Eastwood Lake and other sites to help ensure safe boating practices over the holiday weekend - the effort follows the removal of 548 impaired boat operators nationwide in 2024.  Spectrum News 1

  • A 23-year-old man identified as Manuel Jansen was recovered from Madison Lakes after he went missing while swimming with a group on Saturday in Trotwood—firefighters resumed recovery Sunday afternoon—officials warn that the lake remains dangerous.  Dayton Daily News
  • A 64-year-old man was hit by a 2015 silver Nissan Versa around 11:15 p.m. Monday night on Wayne Avenue in Dayton—law enforcement later arrested the driver for vehicular assault after the car did not stop.  Dayton Daily News
  • A 17-year-old motorcyclist died Tuesday on an I-75 ramp when his 2006 Suzuki DL1000 was struck by a 1995 Peterbilt 379 near the exit to State Route 123, and first responders arrived at 5:15 p.m. while the truck driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries — the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating.  WDTN
  • On Saturday night at 9:50 p.m., Trotwood officials responded to a water emergency at Madison Lakes when a group lost track of a swimmer whose body was recovered on Sunday afternoon—city officials now urge residents to stop swimming due to ongoing safety concerns.  Spectrum News 1

  • A behavioral health agency is hosting a month-long robotics camp for Dayton youth from June 16 to July 3 at its new local facility where students build simple robots and learn public speaking and conflict resolution skills.
