- ➤ Local journalist Mary Evans, 42, was found dead in her Dayton home on Friday, June 20 and her death is under investigation by police. She hosted WYSO’s ReEntry Stories—an effort promoting prison justice reform—and her family and colleagues continue to mourn her loss as WYSO plans to air her final work soon. WDTN
- ➤ The Dayton Air Show hosted the first Vandalia Flight Fest at the Vandalia Recreation Center on Friday, June 20, 2025, where free meet-and-greet opportunities with USAF Thunderbirds and Top Gun impersonators were offered. The event also featured a musical set by the Lt. Dan Band with actor Gary Sinise on bass guitar+ a performance by the Vandalia-Butler High School Marching Aviators and attractions including food trucks, vendors and a kids’ area. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Tipp City police officer Jordan Little flew with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds on Friday, June 20, in a practice session held before the Dayton Air Show as a reward for his life-saving CPR on Justin Trevino in 2024. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A two-vehicle crash in Fayette County on Saturday around 6:55 a.m. on State Route 753 between U.S. 35 and Robinson Road killed a 17-year-old when a 32-year-old Springboro driver in a 2024 Chevrolet Colorado went left of center and struck the victim's 2002 Chevrolet Silverado; the injured driver was taken to hospital and the investigation is ongoing. - ➤ Al Obaidi served as a panelist Saturday at Dayton Metro Library as refugees celebrated World Refugee Day with songs and dances honoring cultures from Colombia, Ecuador, Turkey, Sudan, and Ethiopia — marking the first event after the national Refugee Resettlement Program was paused. Mary Reid from Catholic Social Services said work continues for refugees who arrived before January — and many shared their challenges of adapting to life in America. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ OneFifteen— a nonprofit that offers substance use disorder treatment— will close its doors later this summer due to economic pressures and mounting losses that made it unsustainable. About 250 program participants will receive transition services and 40 staff members will get severance packages while its 4.5-acre campus on Hopeland St. in Dayton reverts to its owner.
