- ➤ Pins Mechanical Co. will open a new bar with duckpin bowling, retro pinball machines, patio pong, giant Jenga and a two-story slide later this month at 416 E. First Street in Dayton’s Water Street District. Located in the former Moeller Brew Barn space near Day Air Ballpark, the venue will serve craft cocktails and local beers + feature indoor and outdoor bars with fire pits + offer old school entertainment for adults. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Huber Heights man pleaded guilty to forgery and grand theft in Montgomery County court and was sentenced to two to three years in prison—he must also pay up to $12,000 in restitution for his role in a quitclaim deed fraud scheme that illegally transferred three properties in Dayton, Centerville, and Huber Heights. - ➤ The Hopewell earthworks at Fortified Hill in Butler County will offer 90-minute guided tours this weekend at Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park to help Dayton residents explore the 40-acre site built by the Hopewell culture thousands of years ago. - ➤ Indiana University East and Wright State University signed a new agreement that lets IU East students spend three years on a human life science degree before transferring for a fourth year with lab training and clinical rotations at Reid Hospital. The program prepares students for in-demand medical lab science careers (with entry-level roles starting above $65,000) and awards them both a Bachelor of Science and a Medical Laboratory Science certificate. - ➤ State Sen. Steve Huffman said the Senate passed SB60 33-0 to let veterinarians use telehealth for pets and the bill now goes to the Ohio House for review—veterinarians are split on remote visits. Supporters say the change will help some elderly pet owners—while critics warn that online exams cannot replace in-person care. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ Dayton Children’s opened its new $11.8M outpatient care center at 5501 Far Hills Ave, just south of Rahn Road in the Centerville and Washington Township area to offer specialized pediatric services. The two-story building—measuring 26,540 square feet—provides physical, occupational and speech/language therapies as well as lab testing and imaging for walk-in visits with a referral.
