  • Today, Springfield hosted its fourth annual community cleanup with over 250 cars filling more than 40 dumpsters with household items to cut illegal dumping. Inmates from the Clark County jail took part in the PRIDE program that has removed over 100 tons of waste since 1991.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Parishioners from the historic St. John the Baptist Church in Maria Stein attended mass Sunday at Precious Blood Church after a fire on Thursday heavily damaged their 135-year-old building—local residents say they will rebuild the church and preserve its rich history.  WDTN

  • A 9-year-old girl was hospitalized after being hit by a car in Dayton Friday around 12:30 p.m. on the 5000 block of Northcrest Drive—officers said the driver, a 44-year-old man from Dayton, did not stop to identify himself.  WHIO-TV

  • Dayton police and medics responded to a reported shooting on the 2200 block of Fauver Avenue — investigators are now working to gather more details.  WHIO-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Air Force Museum hosted HeliStorm today with 100 registered pilots and 140 model helicopters giving flight demonstrations to local aviation fans. CEO Michael Kranitz said the inaugural event will continue tomorrow on the museum's lawn to help students and hobbyists explore aviation careers.  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • Levitt Pavilion held its first Funk Fest Saturday as part of the free Eichelberger Concert series — the event drew a large crowd on the lawn and will lead to more summer concerts with music from various genres made possible by donations and corporate sponsorship.  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • Army Pvt. James G. Loterbaugh, a World War II soldier from Roseville who was missing in action, was identified on September 20 and will be buried with full military honors at Dayton National Cemetery on June 3. A public visitation is held today at Routsong Funeral Home in Kettering—giving neighbors a chance to honor his service.  WHIO-TV
