Good morning, Dayton. Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 1st of June.

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A massive fire burned four houses near Indian Lake on Friday night — photos from T.J. at the Bellefontaine Examiner show the severe damage.  WDTN

CRIME NEWS

  • Dayton police are investigating after a man was shot in the arm this morning—details remain limited and authorities are still gathering information.  WHIO-TV
  • A Dayton man was pulled over after he drove through an active school zone while using his phone and not wearing a seatbelt — he was cited for both offenses while students were nearby.  WHIO-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said a federal judge found Texas-based robocaller John Spiller in contempt for breaking a 2023 court order, banning him from telecom work and forcing him to pay $600,000 fees — a rule that covers seven states and stops billions of illegal calls.  WHIO-TV
  • Drivers on I-75 in Montgomery County will face nightly lane closures between Needmore Road and Leo Street as construction crews move barrier walls for a traffic shift that begins in June. Southbound lanes will shift right until fall 2026 while northbound lanes will operate with a contraflow setup limiting exits until fall 2025 — affecting daily travel plans.  WHIO-TV
  • Vandalia has filed a lawsuit against 320 Dixie LLC and owner Jonathan Dangerfield after the former Oscar’s Bar & Grill near Dayton International Airport remained condemned and unsafe following a December 2022 fire and minimal repairs. The city's complaint in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court cites ongoing hazards — including fire damage, hazardous debris and a compromised roof — and seeks to have the property declared a public nuisance so urgent safety actions can be taken at repair costs exceeding $20,000.  Dayton Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, Sawasdee Thai Cuisine & Sushi in West Chester has recalled a 12 fluid ounce stir fry sauce sold at its restaurant (6064 West Chester Road) and at Jungle Jim’s International Market (5440 Dixie Highway) because the label did not list wheat, and no illnesses have been reported.  Dayton Daily News
