  • Today, the Dayton Foodbank unveiled a new van to help deliver food and volunteers to small neighborhoods with rising hunger needs—supporting roughly 114,000 people in Montgomery, Preble and Greene counties. The vehicle, donated by the AES Ohio Foundation, will join 20 other mobile units to improve access in areas where larger trucks cannot reach.  Dayton 24/7 Now

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities are investigating a crash on Logistics Lane near Dayton International Airport around 1:05 a.m.—a Harley Davidson hit a curb, veered off, and killed driver Christian Price, 24, of Ansonia, and his passenger Austin Evans, 25, of West Milton, who were not wearing helmets and are suspected of speeding.  WDTN

  • Multiple police officers are on scene near West Maplewood Avenue in Dayton where a standoff is reported — U.S. Marshal Service personnel are at a residence while officials work to get more details.  WDTN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Yesterday, the Dayton Philharmonic and the Sarajevo Philharmonic held a 'Concert for Peace' at the Schuster Center—this was the Sarajevo group’s only U.S. public appearance. The event marked 30 years since the Dayton Peace Accords brought peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina—an achievement many Dayton residents recall.  WDTN

  • In Vandalia, a New Carlisle woman purchased a $2,000,000 Extreme Cash scratch-off ticket at a Speedway location and chose the cash option to receive $720,000 after taxes—while in Hamilton, another lottery player won on a 'Billion' scratch-off ticket from a Sunoco location and will get $360,000 after taxes.  WDTN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dayton city leaders met this week after hosting NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly, which brought hundreds of delegates and spurred city upgrades such as lighting improvements along Main and Monument Streets (90% of the work was finished ahead of schedule). The general fund paid for $1.1 million in upgrades while state and federal funds covered other projects (including planned equipment and security measures), and the city did not fund the fireworks display.  Dayton Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Kettering Health said it will no longer divert EMS patients after a cyberattack on May 20 caused a technology outage. The hospital said its teams restored imaging services and now accept both walk-in and EMS patients while temporary fixes remain in place.  Dayton Daily News
