ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Tipp City crews rescued two adults and a 3-year-old who clung to a tree after their boat went underwater near the Great Miami River on May 17—life jackets helped the adults reach dry ground and medics checked the group without needing to transport them to the hospital.  WHIO-TV
  • On Saturday afternoon, Tipp City Fire & EMS rescued a 3-year-old and two adults from the Great Miami River near 2900 East Ohio after their boat sank and left them clinging to a tree — all three refused treatment and the boat was not found.  Dayton Daily News

  • At Bill Yeck Park, Jeff McPherson leads a team from Project VIPR every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.—they remove invasive honeysuckle to bring back native plants and wildlife over the next three years. The project is open to new volunteers who join the effort to improve the park.  Dayton 24/7 Now

  • Police Sgt. Ben Schaefer was named the 2024 officer of the year by Wright State University's Public Safety Department during an award ceremony in March and was promoted to sergeant + he said he is honored to serve his community after three years with the force and earning his bachelor’s degree in 2018.  Wright State University
  • Today, Ohio unveiled a new digital system that helps residents locate nearly $5 billion in unclaimed funds — over $149 million was returned last year — and state officials say it may allow more people to claim their money.
