- ➤ Dayton Hamvention 2025 returns this weekend to the Greene County Fair and Expo Center with tens of thousands of radio enthusiasts from 16 countries gathering to celebrate radio independence. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Kettering police locked down St. Charles School, Archbishop Alter High School, and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church after staff reported a man with a gun in a pickup truck in the parking lot (officers later cleared the area without finding a matching vehicle or person). Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Alter High School in Dayton went on lockdown after a threat was reportedly made against St. Charles — Kettering Police Department secured the building and began investigating the incident. WDTN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On May 20, crews will begin installing thousands of feet of fencing and concrete barriers for the NATO Village in downtown Dayton while police close roads along Second and Main Streets to secure the area. Additional measures include controlled pedestrian corridors and designated protest zones, + several hundred officers from across the state arriving to support security efforts. WYSO
- ➤ Dayton officials are asking residents to be patient with security changes ahead of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly as downtown access will be restricted for vehicles and pedestrians. City workers will shut down streets and reroute transit from Tuesday, May 20 until after the event ends on Memorial Day — residents can get updates via social media. Dayton Daily News
