- ➤ A 51-year-old woman was seriously injured after crashing into a pole at the intersection of Delphos Avenue and Brooklyn Avenue at 12:01 a.m. on May 3rd—details about her condition have not been released. WHIO-TV
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Prairie Township police charged Anthony Kuhn and Nichole Adkins with murder after a man was found dead in a home on Hall Road around 4:30 p.m. May 1—investigators say Kuhn had blood on his face and handed Adkins a baseball bat to watch the door. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Law enforcement agencies across the Miami Valley offered condolences after a Hamilton County sheriff’s deputy died on May 2 when he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic at a commencement ceremony — 38-year-old Rodney Hinton Jr. has been arrested and charged with aggravated murder. WHIO-TV
- ➤ Former executive director of Veterans of Foreign Wars of Ohio Charities, Todd Reveron, pleaded guilty on May 2 in Union County Common Pleas Court for a check-writing scheme that stole $35,007.30 from a local VFW post’s charitable accounts between October 2017 and September 2019 — he was sentenced to three years probation and a $1,000 fine. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Stratacache Tower sustained more than $1 million in wind damage in March, with 22 windows broken and nearby 34 N. Main losing part of its parapet wall on March 15, leaving the building unstable. The city approved nearly $2.9 million for emergency stabilization and demolition work on 34 N. Main — a move to mitigate public safety risks in the downtown area. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ A portion of Rip Rap Road near the Great Miami River in Huber Heights will be closed from May 7 to May 21 for the city to install temporary piping — this work will allow an Ohio EPA water test on a new well at the City's wellfield, and traffic will be detoured to Chambersburg Road and Bridgewater Road. - ➤ On Saturday, about 275 black women gathered at St. Luke Baptist Church on Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton for the second annual Black Women’s Health Initiative to share their stories and receive free health screenings from Kettering Health and Premier Health — organizers said many face increased risks of high blood pressure, obesity, and diabetes. Organizer Jacqueline Moore and Commissioner Mary McDonald urged women to care for themselves and each other and announced plans to rally at the Ohio Statehouse to further advocate for better healthcare. - ➤ Dayton Children’s started construction on a new pediatric urgent care clinic at 1711 Germantown Street in West Dayton to offer quick care for children with illnesses and minor injuries. The project—set to open in summer 2026—received federal tax credits, state funds and a donation from CareSource. Dayton Daily News
