- ➤ Digital engineering firm KBR is investing over two million dollars in its Dayton office to expand job opportunities for veterans and grow its workforce to 800 jobs in the next two years. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Breyon Bryant, 32 of Fairborn, was convicted on multiple felony charges by a Greene County jury for shooting at detectives on Jan. 24, 2024, when officers approached his W. Funderburg Road apartment for a murder warrant — he will face another trial on May 19 for additional charges. WDTN
- ➤ A shooting on Saturday, April 26 at 7:20 p.m. on the 4600 block of Midway Avenue left a 17-year-old dead and two women (aged 21 and 22) injured, and the police homicide unit is investigating the case. Dayton 24/7 Now
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ AFLCMC and AFRL spent over $2 billion with Ohio businesses in fiscal 2024 as contracts at Wright-Patterson helped boost the local economy—data shows $895 million went to larger companies and $412 million to small businesses, with significant spending in Greene and Montgomery counties. - ➤ The Springfield Health Center has opened a new vision clinic — led by Dr. Cindy Ahern — that offers complete eye exams and eyeglass prescriptions for Medicaid or self-pay patients. - ➤ Trader Joe’s recalled a small lot of its Sesame Miso Salad with Salmon because a packaging error put Parmesan cheese crumbles in place of crispy onions, which may carry an unlabeled milk allergen; the recall affected (500 units) (UPC 00773164) sold in Ohio and other states and consumers with milk allergies must throw it out.
