  • Tenants at Central Avenue Apartments in Miamisburg reported that rain leaked into the laundry room—with water saturating the drywall and affecting nearby outlets—and said repeated repair requests have been ignored by the landlord.  WHIO-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • On Tuesday morning, agents from the ATF conducted a court-authorized search warrant at a home on the 1300 block of Mapleridge Drive in Fairborn, leaving neighbors puzzled by the rare police presence (residents note the quiet street rarely sees such activity).  Dayton 24/7 Now
  • A grand jury indicted 62-year-old Anthony W. Perkins on two counts each of murder and felonious assault plus one count of criminal damaging after he allegedly stabbed Ronnie Kyle Wells, Jr. nearly a dozen times at Golden Villa apartments on April 20th—he is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday and is held on a $1 million bond.  Dayton Daily News

  • Local artist Cassie Browning won third place in the contest to design this year’s Ohio State Fair poster—she was one of five winners recognized by the Ohio Expo Center.  WDTN
  • International author Sir Dermot Turing, nephew of Alan Turing, will visit Dayton on May 8 to join two free events that honor the 80th anniversary of VE Day—one at the Dayton International Peace Museum at 11 a.m. and another at Carillon Historical Park with a discussion and Q&A at 7 p.m.  DaytonLocal.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Wright State alum Scott Bauer was given the 2025 Alumnus of the Year Award for rising from an entry-level clerk to a top federal role—serving in areas like Defense, Homeland Security and Veterans Affairs—showing strong service and leadership.  Wright State University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Montgomery County Commissioners approved a levy to renew funds for Human Services that will appear on the November ballot—voters will not face increased expenses for essential services. The county also approved an extra $9 million for the Board of Developmental Disabilities Services to further support community programs.  WDTN
  • The old Montgomery County Courthouse is being turned into a museum called Dayton Around the World for the upcoming NATO Parliamentary Assembly — the exhibit will show historic documents, photos, aviation artifacts, and fossils. The museum will be open May 27th–29th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as officials highlight Dayton’s national and global contributions.  WYSO
