- ➤ The Dayton Regional STEM School robotics team Gem City Gridrunners won the Rookie of the Year award at world competitions held in Houston and Huntsville in March; coach Eric Schrock said the team defied a 5% chance by practicing seven days a week (he had promised to dye his hair if they advanced). - ➤ Liberty High School in Dayton offers about 370 students technical courses in healthcare, manufacturing, construction, and business while they earn their high school diploma—this hands-on program, which includes local workforce meetings and internships, prepares students to start working immediately after graduation. - ➤ Wright State University will hold two commencement ceremonies at the Nutter Center—one for graduates on May 2 at 7:00 p.m. and one for undergraduates on May 3 at 10:00 a.m.—to honor nearly 1,460 students; graduates should limit guests to 14 while visitors can watch online with doors opening 90 minutes before each event.
