- ➤ Old Dayton Pizza at Riverside Hideaway on Old Troy Pike permanently reopened after a one-month closure and now serves pizza and meatballs while adding a pool table, reduced seating, and plans to host bowling, dart and pool tournaments — the owners, Sherri and Steve Zelen, will offer a full menu by the end of this week and are hiring staff to support the updated operations. The reorganization comes after strong customer support prompted them to rethink service and events at the local establishment. Dayton Daily News

- ➤ Former Wright-Patterson Air Force commander Col. Meeker pled guilty to willfully disobeying an order and fraternizing with a noncommissioned officer during a one-day court-martial on Tuesday — he was sentenced to 21 days confinement on base, a reprimand, and forfeiture of $14,000. - ➤ Matthew Hawkins, a member of the Thug Riders Motorcycle Club, pleaded guilty to one count of committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering on April 3 — his sentencing remains pending as authorities continue investigating charges tied to the gang. WHIO-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ohio’s proposed state budget will force area school districts to lower cash reserves if they exceed 30% of spending—affecting 47 districts and requiring more than $500M in reductions. Dayton Public Schools, which ended the fiscal year with reserves well above the limit, could see cuts of over $67M. Dayton Daily News
- ➤ Ohio gave nearly $780,000 in Choose Ohio First Scholarship funds to Wright State University to help graduate students study STEM in the 2025-26 school year—this is the first time Wright State will offer the scholarship to graduate students and the funds will help them get internships, co-ops and research placements. - ➤ Learn to Earn Dayton launched a Civic Leadership Program for residents to learn about school leadership and community building—modeled after a similar course in Cincinnati.
